Initial Laser Journey

It's footprint is 54" x 67"

On June 23rd there was a facebook post. An 80 watt 4' x 3' laser cutter. I jumped on that!

It is probably 'only' 1200 mm x 900 mm, which pedanticism only matters when one has 4x8 foot sheet goods and can't cut the last 3/4".

I asked a question on the post, and then at 8:00pm wrote:

Hi Kirk, unless there is some horrible issue, I would like to buy your
laser cutter. For your asking price of $1000. I assume that it actually works, but that
the laser tube may have a limited life.

I can give you cash tomorrow, of if you need it, I have a few hundred in cash
that I could give you tonight as a deposit. (or I have paypal or alternate payment methods.)

We arranged to meet the next day, and I got cash, but he was working late, so we did the deal the next-next day, June 25th.

And so that was the end of the BLC era (before laser cutter) and the entry in the Great Laser Interregnum!

I made some arrangements to try and pick it up on that Friday, admist our efforts to prepare for the North Bay Python talk and our time in Pennsylvania!

And volunteered at the lodge Wednesday for Wimpy's, and Thursday for the Business Dinner!

My Sweetie is the most awesome sweetie! She was able to clear space in the garage for the laser cutter. She managed to do that by making a lot of spaces much better, and putting the extra stuff in a space which was already a chaos zone (ie. She piled stuff up on spaces that were already covered in stuff!)

That fell through, but we arranged for the Saturday after we returned. July 13th. But we need to delay another day because my friend with truck and trailer is camping...

Chinese lasers are an absolute mismash of parts and components. But this one has
some similarities to this one. Except, the more I look, the more differences I see.

Legacy Lasers 800, except that link shows a 2'x3' cutting area, and there are minor differences.

He also referred to it as a Rabbit Laser. They have a number of models, but nothing matches 100%.

But soon enough I will know!
